The client

Gato is a fashion company that set itself the goal of being ONE OF A KIND. It designs contemporary clothing with a European flair, keeps prices accessible, and puts its main emphasis on the small details — with the end consumer always in view.

Gato sells through two very different channels: directly to consumers, and to wholesale customers who buy in bulk for their own stores. Each channel needed a buying experience of its own.

The brief

Gato asked us to cover both worlds:

  • a consumer online store that reflects the brand and makes buying easy;
  • mobile apps so loyal customers can shop from their phones;
  • a separate wholesale catalog, closed to the public, where trade buyers see the prices and purchase rules that apply to them.

What we built

We specified, designed and developed all three storefronts.

A consumer eCommerce site

The online store presents Gato's collections with the brand's look and feel and a straightforward path from product to checkout.

iPhone and Android apps

Two native apps — one on iPhone and one on Android — give customers a dedicated way to browse and buy from the collection on mobile.

A private wholesale portal

Wholesale buying works differently from retail, so the trade catalog was built around those rules:

  • products are sold by the carton;
  • prices are displayed both with and without VAT;
  • a calculator breaks down each product's cost per unit;
  • a minimum purchase can be enforced per product;
  • access is protected by a unique password sent to each buyer individually.

How we worked

Like every NPCoding project, this one started with a precise specification of screens, features and flows for each storefront, followed by custom design and development. Treating the three channels as one programme keeps branding and decisions consistent across web, apps and wholesale.

The outcome

Gato now sells to consumers through its online store and mobile apps, while wholesale customers order through their own password-protected catalog — one brand, served consistently across every channel.
