(01) What it does

Oskuvi Classes from JSON writes the Java classes that fit a JSON text. Right-click a package and choose New | Classes from JSON…; if a JSON object is on the clipboard it is already there, and the classes appear beside the sample as you type.

Types come from the sample: whole and decimal numbers by their size, lists, nested objects, and a class of its own for every object. A list of objects becomes one class that fits them all, and a field that is missing or null in one of them gets a type that can hold nothing. What a sample can't tell is said, not guessed.

The plugin works on your machine. The sample goes nowhere, and it doesn't add Jackson, Gson or Lombok to your project.

(02)Who it's for

Made for people like these.

  • Java developers writing a client for an API that only has JSON examples.
  • Anyone turning a sample response into model classes for a test or a prototype.

(03)Key features

What's in it, feature by feature.

  • 01

    Classes with getters and setters

Plain Java classes, one file per class or everything nested in one file.

  • 02

    Errors in words

A mistake in the JSON is named with its line and column: a comma too many, single quotes, a key without quotes.

  • 03

    Safe to try

Nothing is written over an existing file, and one Undo takes all the new files away.

  • 04

    Records and Lombok

Write records, or classes with Lombok's @Data.

  • 05

    Jackson or Gson names

@JsonProperty or @SerializedName where a key isn't a Java name, like first-name or class, or on every field.

(04)FAQ

Questions, answered.

Is there a free trial?

Yes, 7 days. After that, Oskuvi Classes from JSON needs a licence, bought through JetBrains Marketplace, where the plugin's page shows the price.

Does it add Jackson, Gson or Lombok to my project?

No. The annotations are written as text; adding the libraries stays your choice.

Does it recognise dates, UUIDs and enums?

Not in this version: a date is a String. Objects whose keys are data rather than field names become classes with those keys as fields.

Can it write Kotlin classes?

No. It writes Java classes and records.
