We deliver software with Claude Code and OpenAI Codex inside an engineering workflow we run and take responsibility for: analysis, implementation, refactoring, testing and documentation, backed by architecture, UI/UX, QA and DevOps. You don't manage coding agents: your HR for AI, a senior engineer, does, and answers to you for the result.

Development package (how we build with AI). It applies across the four capabilities: [Software & App Development](https://npcoding.ca/services/ai-software-engineering/), [QA & Release Assurance](https://npcoding.ca/services/qa-testing/), [DevOps & Managed Operations](https://npcoding.ca/services/devops-managed-operations/), [Product Design & UI/UX](https://npcoding.ca/services/product-design-ux/).

## Overview

Claude Code and OpenAI Codex can read a codebase, propose changes and draft tests far faster than anyone can by hand. Used with direction, they shorten delivery. Used without it, they produce code nobody fully understands.

This package is the directed version. Our engineers plan the work, choose the right tool for each task, review every change and keep the architecture coherent. Designers, QA and DevOps carry the work through to a controlled release, the same way as on every NPCoding project.

You don't need to set up or manage coding agents. We run the workflow and take responsibility for delivery, from the first codebase analysis to ongoing development and maintenance.

## Is this the right service?

Choose Claude Code & Codex Engineering when:

- Cloud AI tools are acceptable under approved accounts and settings
- You want AI-accelerated delivery without setting up or managing coding agents yourself
- You need new development, modernization or ongoing work with senior review and QA

Consider instead:

- [Private / Local AI Engineering](https://npcoding.ca/services/private-ai-engineering/) when policy requires AI processing on infrastructure you control
- [Dedicated Engineering Teams](https://npcoding.ca/services/outsource-developers/) when you want engineers inside your own team and process rather than an outcome we deliver

## What's included in Claude Code & Codex

- **Codebase analysis & planning:** AI-assisted mapping of your codebase, dependencies and risks, turned into a reviewed delivery plan.
- **Implementation & refactoring:** Features and refactoring delivered in small, reviewed changes, with the tool that fits each task.
- **Tests with every change:** Unit and integration tests drafted alongside the code, then reviewed for what they actually prove.
- **Documentation that stays current:** Architecture notes, READMEs and decision records updated as the code changes.
- **UI/UX, QA & DevOps:** Design, independent QA and a controlled release pipeline behind every change.
- **Ongoing development:** Continued development, maintenance and operations after launch, as scoped.

## One task, traced end to end.

An illustrative trace of a single task through the workflow, showing where AI works and where people decide. (Illustrative example.)

**Task · Add CSV export to the reports page**

1. **Engineer:** Writes the task with acceptance criteria, limits and the files in scope
2. **AI agent:** Maps the reports code, drafts the export and its tests
3. **Engineer:** Reviews the change and requests a fix for large exports and access rules
4. **AI agent:** Revises the change; the tests now cover permissions
5. **QA:** Tests exports against the criteria, including a user without access
6. **DevOps:** Releases it through the pipeline, with rollback ready

## What you receive. Who is responsible.

- **A delivery plan:** Scoped tasks, risks and a release plan agreed with you before the work starts.
- **Reviewed changes:** Every change reviewed and approved by an engineer before it merges.
- **Tests & documentation:** Automated tests and current documentation, in your repository.
- **A release assessment:** QA findings and a release recommendation before anything goes live.

## How NPCoding delivers it

1. **Assess the codebase & goals:** Map the codebase and requirements with AI assistance, and agree priorities and risks with you.
2. **Plan reviewed tasks:** Break the work into small tasks, each with acceptance criteria and a reviewer.
3. **Implement with the right tool:** Engineers direct Claude Code or Codex, whichever fits the task, and refine the output.
4. **Review, test & validate:** Code review, automated tests and independent QA before anything merges or ships.
5. **Release & maintain:** Controlled releases with rollback, then continued development and maintenance as scoped.

## How we build: expert engineers, the best AI harness

Every project is built by NPCoding's engineers in a proven AI engineering harness, then reviewed, tested and released by people. Two development packages decide where the AI runs while we build: leading cloud tools or privately hosted models. Both apply across all four capabilities, with the same engineering, UI/UX, QA and DevOps standards.

### Private / Local AI Engineering

*AI-powered software delivery in a controlled processing environment.*

For projects with specific processing requirements. We set up and evaluate privately hosted models, agree the access boundaries, then design, build, test and release your software inside that environment.

- A senior engineer as your HR for AI, managing the agents
- Privately hosted models, evaluated on your own tasks
- Infrastructure setup with agreed access boundaries
- Expert engineering, UI/UX and QA
- Controlled releases with review and rollback
- Optional ongoing management of the private models and infrastructure.

### Compared

- **Suitable requirements:** Private / Local AI: Projects whose contracts, regulation or internal policy call for AI processing on controlled infrastructure. Claude Code & Codex: New builds, modernization and ongoing development where approved cloud AI tools fit your policies.
- **AI processing environment:** Private / Local AI: Open-weight models hosted privately, on infrastructure you control or that we set up for the project. Claude Code & Codex: Claude Code and OpenAI Codex, processed by each provider under the account and settings approved for your project.
- **Setup and infrastructure:** Private / Local AI: Model selection and evaluation, hosting and access setup, scoped before development starts. Claude Code & Codex: No AI infrastructure to build: we bring an established, reviewed workflow into your repositories.
- **Data and access arrangements:** Private / Local AI: Access boundaries, logging and network rules agreed and documented with you. Claude Code & Codex: Access limited to the repositories and data the work needs; provider terms and settings confirmed with you.
- **Expert oversight:** The same in both: a senior engineer acts as HR for AI, directing and reviewing all AI-assisted work, and designers, QA and DevOps own their parts of every release.
- **Ongoing management:** Private / Local AI: Maintenance, QA and operations as scoped, plus optional management of the private models and infrastructure. Claude Code & Codex: Continued development, maintenance, QA and operations, as scoped.

The package decides where AI processing happens while we build. Where your finished application runs is planned separately, in your cloud account or another environment agreed for the project.

## Why NPCoding

## Frequently asked questions

### Do you use both Claude Code and Codex on every task?

No. Engineers choose the tool that fits each task, codebase and your policies. Some projects use one tool throughout; others use each where it works best.

### Do we have to manage the coding agents?

No. We run the workflow: planning, agent tasks, review, testing and release. You work with the engineers accountable for the result, and you can see the plan, reviews and release notes at any time.

### Will our code be used to train AI models?

Processing by a cloud tool isn't the same as using data for model training. Whether data may be used for training depends on the provider, the account type and its settings, so we confirm the applicable terms and the approved settings with you before any code is processed.

### Do we need our own Claude or OpenAI accounts?

Account and access arrangements are agreed for each project, so the tools run under accounts and settings you've approved. We confirm them before any of your code is processed.

### What if our policies don't allow cloud AI tools?

Then Private / Local AI Engineering is the better fit: the same engineering practice, with privately hosted models in a controlled environment.

### Does using cloud AI tools mean our application has to run in the cloud?

No. Claude Code & Codex Engineering covers how we build, not where the result runs. Production hosting is planned separately: your cloud account, your own servers or another environment agreed for the project.

### Are you affiliated with Anthropic or OpenAI?

No. Claude Code is a product of Anthropic and Codex is a product of OpenAI. NPCoding is an independent company that uses these tools in its engineering work.
