## What it does

Oskuvi Runner for Jetty runs and debugs a web application on your own Eclipse Jetty, from a run configuration, in the free edition of IntelliJ IDEA as well as the paid one.

Point the configuration at your Jetty home, the folder that holds start.jar, and at a web application folder or a .war file. Jetty starts as one Java process with the project's JDK, so the editor's own Debug attaches to the process that serves your servlets. The form shows the exact command and settings file first.

Your project stays clean: the Jetty base folder is kept in the editor's own system folder, and the server listens on 127.0.0.1 unless you say otherwise.

## Who it's for

- Java developers who run servlet applications on Jetty.
- Developers using IntelliJ IDEA's free edition who want to start Jetty from the IDE.

## Key features

- **Jetty 12, 11 and 10:** Your own Jetty home; the plugin carries no Jetty of its own.
- **The right servlet API:** Jetty 12 runs Java EE 8 and Jakarta EE 9, 10 and 11 side by side. The plugin reads which one your web.xml is written for; you can choose another.
- **Run:** From Run | Edit Configurations… | + | Runner for Jetty.
- **See the command first:** The exact command and the settings file, before anything starts.
- **Debug:** The editor's own debugger attaches to the process that serves your servlets.

## Frequently asked questions

### How does the licence work?

The first 7 days are a free trial. After that the plugin needs a licence, sold through JetBrains Marketplace, where its page shows the price.

### Which Jetty versions does it support?

Jetty 12, 11 and 10. Jetty 9 and older aren't supported.

### What isn't in this version?

Jetty 9 and older, the runner jars, hot redeploy and HTTPS.

### Does it write anything into my project?

No. Nothing is written into the project or into the Jetty home, and the web application is served from where it is.
